UpCycle Northwest
Coffee Roaster Chaff availability

UpCycle Northwest works with large coffee roasters to reclaim, recycle, and reuse good materials that might otherwise be sent to the landfill.

We make large amounts of coffee roaster chaff available to urban gardeners, landscapers, and non-profit groups, free with burlap purchase or a small donation to support our work. We hope it helps to make their gardens, chicken coops, and the planet as a whole better places to be!

Next chaff pickup date: Friday, August 27th, noon-5:15pm
Location: NEW UpCycle Northwest warehouse in Ballard near the Ballard Bridge
(map and directions below)
Packaging: Already packed in individual ~8-10# bags - bring an extra empty garbage bag or can if you're able
Limit: Four bags per household per month
Cost: FREE to our customers and supporters (same-day burlap bag purchase or $5 donation requested)

Also available will be the materials that allow us to keep the doors open:
  • "Weedblock-grade" natural burlap bags for sheet mulching, erosion control, and weedblock - just .99 each! (Discounts for 20+ bags in a single purchase.)

  • "Uncut" natural burlap bags for container gardening, crafts, sack racing, and bulk storage - $2 each ($3 for organic)

  • "Art" burlap bags with beautiful pictures, logos, and printing - frameable quality! - $2.50-$5.00 each

Directions: Our new Ballard warehouse at 4950 11th Ave NW is just a few blocks east of the north end of the Ballard Bridge (or about two blocks NE of Trader Joe's). There's no sign yet, but look for a dark green building - we-re behind the large rollup white garage door, near a chain-link fence, a few feet from 11th Ave NW.
